Black Agricultural Ecosystem
The Black Agricultural Ecosystem (BAE) is a coalition of Black-led organizations in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Oregon and Washington, dedicated to advancing food justice, land stewardship, and community empowerment. BAE addresses systemic inequities faced by Black farmers and land stewards by creating pathways to food sovereignty, generational wealth, and sustainable community development.
The Black Agricultural Ecosystem (BAE) is the mycelium of Black Food System Curators in the PNW. Our interconnected network sustains and nourishes our local food system. Our Ecosystem includes Feed’em Freedom Foundation, Black Oregon Land Trust, Mudbone Grown, Black Food sovereignty coalition, Black Food Fund and Black Futures Farm.
Our Mycelium bridges, regenerates, and encourages growth amongst Black farmers, food system leaders, distributors, and cultural stewards, in an effort to weave together resources, knowledge, and opportunities for collective resilience.
By receiving the Justice Oregon for Black Lives Funds from Meyers Memorial Trust, we’ve been given the pleasure of time in nature to reconnect and strategize about where regenerative bridges for food system change needs to happen. We build upon the legacies of Land and Liberation that our farm ancestors have laid down for us. To be of and on the land is Freedom.
